Everyday we dedicate ourselves to our J. O. B. As widespread, diverse and variant the independent aspects of our daily routine may be, we all share the same bottom line - we work. We work hard, work long, work smart, and constantly strive to better either ourselves as individuals, our dedicated profession(s), or the company we consider worthy of the majority of our time (and ultimately our lives). Some (probably the majority) say its for a little piece of paper, thats right - a paycheck. But im not confident that is the sole purpose of 'work'. I think its more than that. I believe that it is to better something. Thats the whole point, right? To obtain a higher meaning of success or fulfillment. We, as humans, on a basic emotional level, have needs - and I believe one elemental desire is cored around 'contribution'. To add, give, and/or provide significance to the said 'something' in which we love.
Now, here's the challenge... we have to find and embrace those certain individuals who appreciate and share the passion - the hunger. (whether its family, friends, employees, or a city). Everyday is a journey, a hunt, a pursuit. We all are searching for the same (or similar at least) thing -meaning. Something to engrave a small yet lasting mark on this unbelievably overwhelming world. It's in the moment that you discover a purpose in your work that you truly see the potential of what you are doing. The 'why' becomes clear and you will become more focused than ever.
Once attained, an accomplished level of acceptance, respect, or shared commitment cant be expressed by a monetary value. Its simply not possible because the emotional rewards of work, the ones that completely overwhelm you with insights of clarity, particularly pertaining to the purpose of your dedication, are absolutely invaluable. When your head hits the pillow at night after an exhausting 13 hour day of strenuous labor and you are still smiling because people, companies, communities, and/or professions are bettered by your achievements, outreach and dedication, then you will understand that your need is being met. In this moment you realize that you cant put a price on meaning...
